Mogens Zieler artwork from South East Asia

On January 3 the respected Danish singer and actor, Mr. Kurt Ravn, told the TV audience about his and his wife's narrow escape from the tsunami.

Ravn's final appeal was for us northerners, not to forget or neglect the afflicted region, but rather revisit it as often as possible, so as to further the efforts of reconstruction of this paradise on Earth.

His words made me think of many pictures by the artist, Mogens Zieler.

Mogens Zieler travelled in the late 30es with his wife extensively in East Asia. Although the couple may not have visited the exact spots where the recent catastrophy hit the worst, his inspiration for pictures for many decades drew heavily on the impressions from the region in general.

Since I knew Mogens as the most generous and empathetic person imaginable, I have no doubt that he would have agreed whole-heartedly to this use of his art-work.
